My first foreign car was a ‘75 Alfetta. It was one of these dealer launch cars.
It was an excellent car for the time. Superior to BMWs of the day.

Cameron had a similar car, not sure if he was as fond of it:

Here is a close equivalent.

I think I’ve seen that one. One aspect to explain the differing perceptions, I owned mine from about 1980 till maybe 1989 so compared to cars of the day, a 120 hp, twin cam, 4 disk brake car with a 5 speed was pretty exceptional.
Today that would describe a stripper Nissan....
Also I got mine when it was only 5 years old. I am sure they don’t get more attractive with age.....

That pic is from a 1986 movie, the car appears to maybe already be going at the lower doors. If it was a local car (Chicago), that maybe didn’t help.
But during that era, the Alfa definitely had a spec sheet rivaled by few relatively affordable cars.

I want one of these so damn badly. Try finding one for sale in the UK that’s not £14k though...

My car’s rockers started rusting at about 6 years. The fix was by a one man body shop in LeClaire Ia recommended shooting the rockers with some sort of black fiberglass chip coat. Rockers looked great and no more rust!
I don’t blame Alfa that they rusted as everything in the ‘70's and 80's rusted. I bet my rockers were hollow when I sold the car.
Ahhh, I just realized who Cameron is and where I saw that car. Is he on this forum too?... Wouldn’t surprise me. Oppo meet at Cameron’s house!

Those cars, and many of the era, definitely would have benefited from some after market rust inhibitor. Using black on the rockers might be an old trick, I think I have heard about that. I am in the PNW, where cars rust very slowly, and even here those are known to dissolve. Not the best era of cars in general, but there was more overall affordability anyway, and the grey market was still thriving.
I think by now, 32 years later, maybe Cameron has inherited the cars and the house, and sold it all. I last heard about him working with storm chasers back around 1996.

I kind of lost track of him. That’s awesome about Cameron.
